What Travis Kelce had to say about his personal life in a new interview and his accomplishment so far with the Kansas City Chiefs
Football fans first got to know Travis Kelce as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, but now he’s a household name on his own.
The 34-year-old spoke about his personal life in a new interview with ABC News that aired on June 6, and shared how he’s able to stay true to who he is, despite all the spotlight.
“When you have good family and friends around you, it makes that aspect of life that much easier,” Kelce said. “I’ve always been a very grounded guy, you know, it might not come off like that when I’m playing football, but off the field, I just want to be a genuine person. I try not to get too far down the road, because you just never know what opportunities are going to present themselves.”
Kelce, who’s coming off of a Super Bowl win in February and has been spending time with his girlfriend Taylor Swift as she globetrots on her “Eras Tour,” said he’s “living the dream.”
“I feel like I’m on top of the mountain, even after winning the Super Bowl and having the off season that I’m having,” he said.
Kelce, who co-hosts his “New Heights” podcast with his older brother Jason Kelce, said he never would have imagined it would have become as popular as it is today.
“I’m so fortunate that everybody, you know, kind of latched on to me and my brother’s family dynamic, because that’s really what my goal was when we started the podcast,” he said.
“If you looked at us on two different teams, you really didn’t even think that we were brothers, we just had the same last name,” Kelce continued. “Just because he’s like the Neanderthal that wears flip-flops in the winter and doesn’t really care what he looks like, and I like to, you know, throw on fashionable stuff and have fun.”
The eldest Kelce brother retired from the NFL earlier this year, but remains a “New Heights” co-host, and plans to join “Monday Night Countdown,” the pregame show for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”
“Through the podcast, we’ve been able to show everybody just how close we are as brothers,” he added.
