Whoopi Goldberg willed a jovial morning into existence for The View audience by reminding them of their fragile mortality.
Well, you know, first of all, everybody in this audience, it’s a tough conversation to have: Make a will. Make a will. Do not wait until you die,” the 68-year-old Oscar-winning actress said just after the beginning of the show’s bright and early 11 a.m. start time on Thursday.
Goldberg said “you’re leaving people in pain at your loss and trying to figure out what you wanted,” and urged viewers to “tell people what you want” before your demise.
The truth is: Everybody’s gonna die at some point,” she continued. “Don’t leave it for your kids to deal with.”
Joy Behar, 81, quickly stressed to Goldberg: “Not me” — a sentiment Sunny Hostin echoed. “Nope, not you, Joy.”
Goldberg turned toward her longtime cohost and brought her back down to earth. “Don’t even say stuff like that,” Goldberg said, before throwing the show to a commercial break so the audience could ponder their impermanence in this life.
